What may have ever caused my membership to be terminated with the MPVA?
First, a little bit about me since I retired in May 1995.    I have been a member of the FOP since I started the academy but never joined the PBA.  Prior to retiring I attended many barbecues, parties, meetings while in Miami.
After retiring, I attended some of the retiree's reunions in Ocala and in 2000 (?) Dick Witt, who was retired and living in Ormond Beach, Florida, where I lived, asked me to help him host the annual retiree's reunion in the Daytona area.  The previous hosts, Dave & Mercia Lamport had held it many years in Ocala and they decided it was time to take a break.
Dick and I worked hard  coordinating the first reunion which was held.....

What happened to MPVA?
Many of you may not know about how MPVA officers almost completely shut down the association.  A fact I have never brought up till now was that in July 2006 Dick Witt told me MPVA was in trouble and might shut down. The trouble was financial and wasn't not enough money, but it was accumulating a lot of money and could have some other problems result from it because of it's corporation status.  Dick asked me how hard it would be to start up a web site that would keep MPD veterans in touch and that complete lack of communicating information could be detrimental to retirees.   On August 14, 2006, I had found a internet company that was offering one year free web hosting and the only cost was less than ten dollars for a domain registration.  I signed up and created my PERSONAL web sites, www.echelberry.org and www.miamipolicevet.org , this was all done before he called me .  The intent for the second site was strictly to ...............

What would cause me to be deleted?
About November 7, 2009 I was in Ohio to visit my grandmother and pick up items from my mother that passed away in May 2009.  I could not log in... I would try every day and I could not get logged on... Strange, I had not received any notice there was a problem.  I emailed the email address for MPVA asking what happened... (Click to view) ........The reply did not come until Nov. 16 (Click to view)
I was confused but in the meantime, my grandmother came down with menginitis and was hospitalized. I had no access to a computer printer and hand wrote my application information to resubmit my dues on November 16 and sent a check to Harvey Bach's address he uses to collect dues.

I heard nothing and could not log in... On November 30,  I sent a email to MPVA again asking what the status was  (click to view) and received no response.
On, December 8, 2009, I still had not heard anything and sent another email  (click to view) .  It was very frustrating that a association and corporation doesn't answer a question.  I received the following response (click to view)
I choose not to make a phone call to find out why my membership renewal was denied and feel it must be something that a board member does not want to be held accountable for later.  I still don't know what the problem was.....
